A retired employee of Iran's Defense Ministry was hanged for spying for the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), Tasnim news agency reported Tuesday.
The spy, named Reza Askari, was executed last week after trial for providing the CIA with information on Iran's missile program, Gholam Hossein Esmaili, the Judiciary spokesman, was quoted by Tasnim as saying.
After retirement from the Defense Ministry's Aerospace Department in 2012, Askari was connected with the CIA and sold information on the production of Iranian missiles in exchange for money, according to Esmaili.
