A total of 80,904 people have been diagnosed so far with the Coronavirus, that emerged in December 2019in the city of Wuhan, the capital of the Hubei Province, China. With the early precautions of the Chinese government, first the Wuhan City, then the entire province was taken under a quarantine. Under the leadership of Xi Jinping, the President of the People's Republic of China and the General Secretary of the CPC, the party, the state and the people have declared a joint war on the virus with a common sense. Two gigantic hospitals were built in a quite short time to treat the infected patients only, in order to prevent the spread of the disease while the fight against the virus is carried on. Construction of those two hospitals, one with a capacity of 1,000 people, and the other one 1600, has been completed in just a total of 15 days and has opened to service. The Chinese people have a great impact on the state's struggle with the virus. If the Chinese people were not to be responded to the calls forthe cooperation with the state, there would have been no great results in such a short time. Because the most important feature of the virus is, that it spreads very quickly. The virus is usually not lethal. But it is very dangerous for the elderly, those with poor immune systems and those with a chronic disease. For this reason, the people’s loss of interest for going out as much as possible, avoidancegetting a contact with the crowd and usage of the masks has been very important in order to prevent the infection of this virus towards the risky groups.
As of today, 58,684 people were recovered and discharged, while 3,123 people have died. As of today’s, records, the total number of the patients is 19,097. It is worth noting that 25% of these patients are in a serious condition. Out of the total 87,704 diagnosed patients, 67743, and 3007 out of the 3,123 of whom died in total, were from the Hubei province. To be more specific, 49948 of the total patients and 2,388 of the total deaths, are recorded in the city of Wuhan, where the virus first broke out. These figures provide us some important clues about what results we would face across China, if quarantine was not to be implemented quickly and effectively. The decisions taken have isolated 85% of the diagnoses and deaths in the Hubei province. But we also need to know that, these decisions have taken by paying a great cost. The population of the Hubei province, where quarantine was implemented, is 59 million, however its area is less than a one-tenth of Turkey. Being able to quarantine such a large population in such a small area, constantly sustaining their food and healthcare and ensuring the flow of the non-stop volunteered doctors from the other parts of China, is an important success story that will be recorded in history. This success story was accomplished, not only for the Chinese people, but for humanity. Many doctors, health care personnel and the Members of the CPC, have died with the virus in the process.
An average number of new daily cases of the diseasewas around1500-2000,despiteall the measures taken, during the days of rapid spread of the disease. In there cent days, the number of the new cases per day, is lessthan50in the whole country, and around 80%ofthemare in the city of Wuhan, where the disease first broke out. Asof today, the total number of patient sout side of the Hubei province in China,isonly794.Accordingto the estimates, in 10days, the disease will be almost eradicated in China except the Hubei province.
Today, China is the safest country in the world, in terms of the threat of the Coronavirus. There are no infection on the streets. Each caseand each up date is shared instantly with the World Health Organization and transparency policy is pursued. People living in China can constantly see the data that the state is constantly up the mobile phone applications. In any province, city, county an deven died, just in seconds. China'sstrategy of transparency, during its waron the Coronavirus should be taken as part of the multi polar world idea the world.
Let us take look at the world outside of China. As of yesterday, the number of cases outside of China has exceeded the number of cases in China. Unfortunately, the countries that cannot make radical decisionsunlike China, the virus is spreading uncontrollably. There is an average of 2,000 new cases per day in Europe, most of them being in Italy. The number of people that hasdiagnosed with the virus in Europe is 11,610, the current number of the patients present is 10,534, and the number of those who lost their lives is at 406. Estimates show that the number of the cases in Europe will surpass China just in three days. The measures not being taken in Europe and the density of the elderly population in mind, the magnitude of the danger will be grasped. The situation in Asia excluding China, appears to be largely under control except Iran, Korea and somewhat Japan. The number of people that hasdiagnosed the virus is 15,130, the number of the current patients is 12,407, and the number of those who lost their lives is at 259. 90% of the total cases are being seen in Korea and Iran.
As I have stressed before, China had an important experience from SARS in terms of the fight against outbreaks, and now had anextraordinary experience with theCoronavirus. China, the world's most populous country, has defeated the virus in a quite short period of time. But the failure in the struggle with the virus outsideChina, could bring a second and a third wave for many countries, including China itself. For this reason, the European, American, Asian and African countries, including our own country, which has yet to be seen any cases, should learn from China's struggle and listen to their recommendations. China has stated at every stage of the strugglethat the fight against the virus, is between the whole humanity and the virus itself. Just yesterday, ithas shown that it would support other countries' struggles against the virus byhelping the WHO financially. If the world wants to beat thisoutbreaksooner, it should listen to China and tell more of China.
It is necessary, not to be afraid of the disease, but also to take precautions. Let us know that the virus is a form of a pneumonia. Let us not forget that pneumonia caused by the Coronavirus, is almost non-existent in the young and healthy population with any chronic diseases. However, let us know that the ignorance will have a great impact on the spread of the disease, particularly on the risky groups. Of course, I am not a physician, but scientists insist that the use of a protectivemask ,is very effective, in reducing the rate at which the disease spreads, rather than being protected from the disease itself. In China, outside activities without the protective mask is prohibited, on the ground that public health is being putto danger. It is important to note that the disease, sometimes does not show symptoms for up to twenty days. You can unknowingly contribute to the spread of the disease ,when you think you are not sick. How many people a diseased person caninfect, with a domino effect on the subway or on a bus, justthink about itfor a moment. Think of your family, your elderly or sick relatives. Therefore, make sure to take the necessary precautions for your personal hygiene and do not forget to wear a protective mask.
